Micheal’s wardrobe is different. He didn’t actually change his clothes in the story, in case anyone thinks that — I just changed their design. Reason: the clothes he appeared in before were… originally intended to be temporary, basically. I was super rushed on the page he first appeared in. I didn’t have a suitable design for his clothes worked out yet, so I just went “nevermind, I’ll just draw in something basic for the moment, and edit it into something better in the morning or whatever, when I’m not so tired…”  Well. That somehow turned into months and months of him having that “temporary outfit.” Urgh. Yeah, it’s always easier to just keep things the way they are, especially when changing them will cause your readers to WTF.

Fellow webcomic artists, this is why you should always plan designs out. It’s very important. But, I never listen to my own advice and almost always design things right there on the page as I’m drawing it. INCLUDING THE NEW OUTFIT HE’S WEARING NOW HAHA. D: I will never learn.

More fundamentally, his horns changed positions, and you will soon notice this change on Rafeal as well.

Reason: I was toying with changing the design of the horns on the elder members of their species (the horns grow as they get older, so the elders’ are longer). I thought I could easily change that, because no elder members of their species had appeared in the comic yet. But then, I realized changing the horns to the kind of design I wanted also required changing their position. So — I’m sure you can see where this is going — the change in horn position also had to be reflected on the younger characters.

In general, you guys, I think I seriously put way too much effort into Joyride. :D I should have just made a comic about college roomie shenanigans. They could launch witty diatribe back and forth and/or game all day. MAN THAT’S A GREAT IDEA I BET I’M THE FIRST PERSON TO THINK OF IT

Ooohkay, I figured out what happened D: I couldn’t log in because my password was mysteriously wrong. My password was mysteriously wrong because my host changed it without telling me. My host changed it without telling me because… well, actually I think they did tell me, but Gmail gobbled it up or something. And all that was because there was some security compromise on my host. So I just had to figure out from them what they changed my password to, which I did, and now everything is good.

HOWEVER. Here’s the important part.

Updating on Mondays has not been working out for me for reasons I’m not going to go into, so I decided to use this delay as a chance to switch things around. I’m going to post Monday’s page on Thursday instead, and from now on, updates will always be on Thursday. Monday is now the “bonus” day, meaning I only sometimes will post updates on Monday, but always will on Thursday.

Makes sense?

I’m sorry to change things right when everyone is used to Monday being the official day. This should be the last schedule change for a while. Although, I do have a surgery soon, so I’m going to try my best to finish Act 1 before that. Wish me luck! I’m going to go work on pages now!

NOT COOL, I worked so hard to get the page done on time, despite being exhausted and behind schedule, and then what happens? The FTP refuses my login — it has been doing so for the last hour — so I can’t upload the actual comic image for Monday’s page. Baaaaw.

Hopefully the stupid thing will have fixed itself by the time I wake up, in which case you’ll see a page in the morning… if not, I’ll have to dig around and see what’s up.

Although I recently announced the potential of Thursday updates, I just wanted to warn everyone that those have a pretty low probability of actually happening for the next few weeks.

I’ve just been busy with lots of commercial art/design recently, and after doing art all day, the last thing I want to do is… more art.

This is also why I haven’t ended the contest below yet (I don’t even feel like doing a prize sketch x_x).  So that contest will remain open for a bit longer. Feel free to enter if you haven’t yet.

Hopefully I’ll be out of this work glut soon, and then I’ll be able to give Joyride more attention :D

This is a fun game I like to play. All you have to do is give me a random number, and you get the chance to win a sketch. Read on for full details before playing, please.

First: why do I do this? Well. I wanted to give some sketches to my supporters. But I can’t draw a sketch for EVERYONE. And I don’t want to pick some people but not others, since that would hurt people’s feelings and generally suck. Some people do those “first 5 commenters get a free pic” type contests to handle this issue, but I always thought those weren’t fair to people who live in other timezones and are almost always sleeping when I post things.

Soooo I thought of this game, where EVERYONE has the same chance to win. This is how it works!

• In your comment, please inclue links to images of who you want me to sketch if you win. (work safe please)
• After a few days, I will close comments and use this random number generator to generate a number.
• Whoever commented with the number closest to the randomly generated number wins! :D
• If no one claimed that winning number, I keep generating numbers until I hit a claimed one. It usually does take a few generations.
• If more than one person picked the winning number: the first person who picked it wins. So before posting your number, please scan the other comments to make sure nobody else took yours first.
